I thought they totally...I felt the same way, Robin. I thought they totally ruined the scene by giving the "canned" spiel, when it would have been so much more powerful if they had just let it happen more naturally. They made it so awkward. That was the only part of the movie, actually, that I didn't like! It's a really great movie and I highly recommend it everybody, especially if you've had any sort of marriage problems--and who hasn't? If you're married, you've had problems. :-)

I definitely felt that scene was too heavy-handed, whether the audience was Christian or not. And then Cameron's character just immediately responded, and that seemed a bit fake, too. He went from totally hostile to totally surrendered. It happened too fast, IMO.Melanie Dickersonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09752176517296691824noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6315921425588478095.post-36042253946476592432008-12-21T12:53:00.000-05:002008-12-21T12:53:00.000-05:00This is actually their third movie. The first was...This is actually their third movie. The first was "Flywheel." It did not have the help of a motion picture company but I liked it anyway. I have not seen Fireproof yet but it is supposed to be shown in our church sometime in early 2009. I am looking forward to it. I cried through the first two, so I will take a box of kleenex when I see this one.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6315921425588478095.post-18168000444986267542008-12-21T09:09:00.000-05:002008-12-21T09:09:00.000-05:00I haven't seen this movie yet, and I just saw Faci...I haven't seen this movie yet, and I just saw Facing the Giants a couple months ago.

I think the subtlety depends on the audience. If you're trying to reach an unsaved audience, then you'd need to spell it out, but if it's just a good clean movie for Christians to enjoy, I agree with you, Robin. Stop at the gesture, and let us all think.

I do want to see this movie. I'll have to watch for this scene. Do you know if it's out on DVD already?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
